Congratulations to John and Tracy Potter, and Hair Fairy Wigs…

… who have just been accepted on the NHS Supplies framework, making them an approved direct supplier for the NHS.

hair fairy wigs (2)For the last four years, Hair Fairy Wigs (JBP Enterprises Ltd.) have been providing a quality local service for people who have lost their hair or are going through cancer treatment. The business was set up based on personal experiences, and their aim is to make people’s lives better by delivering a wrap-around service working with cancer support organisations, providing personal service and turning a daunting experience into a pleasant experience. Many of you will remember the excellent presentation that Tracy gave on 24th March 2014 at our ‘Meet the Suppliers’ event.

Although they have been supplying to the NHS as a subcontractor, they wanted to be able to supply directly and reach more people, but were finding it difficult to negotiate the complexity of NHS organisations and their procurement processes.  They needed help and support to access contract opportunities, and Liverpool Vision referred them to RLK Partnerships under the Merseyside Business Support Programme. RLK Partnerships helped them understand the framework contracting opportunity and worked with John on a one-to-one basis to help him complete the tender documentation.

It was a lengthy process, but happily, they have been successful and now have a direct contract enabling them to supply a comprehensive range of wigs to NHS patients.  This new contract will increase turnover, and enable them to reach more people with their excellent service.

Great news for their clients!

Hot Summer – Cool Lunch

“It is the only way forward “

P1050262Our second brokering lunch was held last Thursday (24th July), at 12 Jordan Street (of course!) We moved to a larger, cooler room this time, which we really needed on such a swelteringly hot day, and happily the atmosphere remained cool and relaxed.

A mix of people from the private, public and VCSE sectors were there, to meet new people, talk to people they heard of but hadn’t met, and make some interesting connections.P1050253After a brief introduction by Rosemary, everyone quickly got stuck into the food and the chat. There were plenty of intense-looking one-to-one conversations, and diaries were out across the room, making  appointments to follow up the discussions. Over twenty people came, and we had some excellent feedback:

“Well organised” “excellent hospitality and very useful” “Well done”

P1050242     P1050238 (2)     P1050246 (2)Several people told us how pleased they were that they’d been able to meet council and health representatives in a relaxed environment for an unpressured talk.  Over the next few months we’ll be helping people to follow up links and develop their collaborative working

P1050223Once again, the excellent lunch was provided by COFFEE & FANDISHA, who will be opening soon at the back of 12 Jordan Street – we ordered extra cake this time, which was much appreciated, particularly the Victoria sponge with fresh cream and raspberries – oh yes, and the banana cake!

Who was there?

What Next?

Our next event will be in mid September.  We thinking about have a focus on Housing next time as some of the Registered Providers are interested in getting involved. Attendees vary each time so that we can make new connections but also keep developing the links we have facilitated. If you are looking to develop your collaborative working and are open to working with new organisations, do get in touch and if we can facilitate introductions we will be happy to do so.

June Brokering Lunch – Went So Well!

“Great people.  Great lunch. Let’s do it more often. “a P1040907 - Copy

On Friday 6th June we invited some of the organisations we have been working with to come along to our first brokering lunch, in the new meeting room at 12 Jordan Street, and make some interesting connections.

People started arriving at midday, and immediately the room was full of lively chat – so much so that we had difficulty dragging people away to make new introductions! Everyone we invited came, and we had some excellent feedback:
“Great idea”  “Like-minded people and social value synergy”    “Let’s do it again!”
“You might want to try starting a dating agency”    “When’s the next one?”
“Met some really interesting and enterprising people”
“Awesome” “Great people.  Great lunch. Let’s do it more often.“
“Lovely food in a beautiful environment”

Our first brokering lunch

Our first brokering lunch is scheduled for Friday 6th June, at 12 Jordan Street.

This is not just a networking lunch! Over the past few years we have supported over 100 local business organisations and helped to develop several collaborations. We like to introduce our clients to each other when we think there is potential for them to work together and share expertise/resources. We call this “managed brokering”, using our knowledge of the organisations and local markets to make introductions and develop collaborative working. Continue reading

The meeting room @ 12 Jordan Street

On 1st April 2014 we moved into our lovely new office at 12 Jordan Street, in the heart of the Baltic triangle. With access to meeting rooms and soon to open café – it gives us the practical space to bring organisations together and hold events on site.
